I just came across a model I haven't seen before and wondered if anyone could identify it. It looks just like a model 1000 except that it is done in gold electroplate instead of chrome. 14K nib, gold clip, finish like a 1005 but pattern like a 1000. Anybody seen one like that?

Not really a collector, but I love the Targa. I had two black and one chrome--but they were badly damaged when my home was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. The pens were buried in the water and swamp mud for weeks before I could return to the house. There must have been something caustic in that muck, because the pens are badly pitted. I cleaned them with cold water only, but they're a mess.

I have a couple of Targas, a 1001xg:- the later (1989-1998)version with gold plated clip and trim and 14kt Gold nib which I have had from new. It has been in regular use since purchase in 1990 but has recently suffered from poor ink-flow and has had a repleacement section supplied by Sheaffer. I also have what I believe to be a 1024S dating from 1982 and in unused/uninked condition together with matching rollerball, ballpen and pencil. I would LOVE to use the pen but as it is in absolute mint conditio, aI am having to resist temptation. If you need to identify your Targa, go towww.sheaffertarga.com where you will find a very good listing, along with details and many photos, of what is thought to be the definative list of Targas - unless you know better! A great site for those fascinated by the Targa!

Hi--I am a fan. I sought out my first Targa because I kept seeing posts on how wonderful it is. At first it seemed too modern in design for me. Then I found I was writing with it in preferance to my other pens. It is both butter smooth and very stable--a nice combination. I now have a stainless with stainless nib, an all black with stainless nib and a black and gold with a 14k gold nib. I love them all.
