Posted: Apr 21, 2010 07:52:20 PM Well the 14K caps make it a step above most Sheaffer pens. From what I understand the numbering indicated the original selling price, so the 5000 would have sold for $50.00 when new. You did not indicate the filling system, and from the photos it looks like a vac filler, though it could also be a touchdown. Vac fillers are somewhat more difficult and more expensive to get restored. It will be a fun auction to watch.

Posted: Apr 26, 2010 12:27:30 PM I just saw the end of the auction. I hope you are happy with the outcome. It went for more than I expected. I have purchased Sheaffer Masterpiece pens (solid 14k pens) for less.
