Posted: Jan 19, 2010 12:22:28 PM | Charles, there are two kinds of "plunger" fillers for sheaffer pens. The earlier type, called a vac filler, had a thin rod that pulled out with the blind cap, and when pushed back in, it created a vacumn which then drew ink into the pen. These are difficult to repair, but there are folks out there that do it. The later version is a touchdown filler, which has a "tube" which pulls out.
